Man found dead after stabbing

The body of William E. (Jimmy) Clark, 34, of 4509 Meridale Ave., was found in the 500 block of Winkler Avenue about 2:15 a.m. yesterday. Deputy Coroner Carl Adams said an autopsy showed Clark had been stabbed once in the back, and that the wound had punctured a lung.

A taxi driver found the body in the street and called police. Officers said Clark was fully clothed and that his bill-fold, containing about $100, was in his pocket.

Clark's car was parked a short distance away, with the door on the driver's side open. His car keys were found between the car and the body.

Police are investigating the death.

Clark was a maintenance mechanic for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation, and was a native of Edmonson County.

Survivors include his wife, the former Charlene Hendricks, and his mother, Mrs. Lura Clark.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Arch L. Heady Southern Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Blvd., with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

The body will be at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today
