He was in business with his father and brothers, Jacob and Rudolph Lips. John Victor's first wife, Emma Louise Steilberg Lips, and mother of their four children, died 11-21-1911. John Victor married his second wife, Susie Scott Lips, on 5-19-1913 in Louisville, KY. Susie had originally been married to John Victor's brother, Rudolph Lips, who also died in 1911. Per the 1920 and 1930 US censuses, they were living in the Cleveland, Ohio area.
