W. Blankenship, Kin of Lawmaker, Passes in Pacific

Wayne Blankenship, brother of Representative Dallas Blankenship, died Dec. 30 in a Navy mobile hospital in the South Pacific where he was attached as a pharmasticest's mate, second class, his wife, Mrs. Mary Blankenship, 4103 Cole, was notified by the Navy Department Thursday.

He had been ill several months. he had been in the Navy two years and before enlistment had attended Sunset High School. Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Sarah B. Blankenship of Rogers, Bell County; four sisters and six brothers. Three of the brothers, Dallas, M. A. Blankenship, and Don Blankenship, live here.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the University Park Methodist Church, Preston and Caruth, with the Rev. Lance Webb officiating.

Information from Navy Office of Medical/Dental Affairs, Mortuary Affairs Section, Great Lakes, Ill. Oran Wayne Blankenship died in Mobile Hospital #7 in New Caledonia of anemia aplastic. His wife was Mary M. Blankenship and his brother, named next of kin, was Marion A Blankenship who resided at 3917 Greenbrier, Dallas, TX. That he was buried in Grave 20 Row 2. (this I believe was the burial place in Noumea, New Caledonia) After the WW ll ended, his body was removed from New Caledonia to Schofield Veterans Cemetery, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii where records show he was reinterred in Grave 63, Plot 7, Row 1. Navy records show that February 28, 1949, his body was moved from the Schofield Veterans Cemetery, Hawaii, to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific and interred in Plot N, Row O, Grave 89. His final resting place.
