Funeral services will be held for Cody Blaine Alexander, 18, of Alex at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013, in the Alex High School Gymnasium with Clem Cassmeyer and Kim Hayes officiating.
Cody was born in Norman, Oklahoma, on August 10, 1994, the son of Terry Alexander and Candace Mitchell. He died on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, in Alex.
Cody grew up in Alex where he was very active in the South Main Street Church of Christ. His passion was for his savior Jesus Christ and his work here on earth. He was a senior in high school where he excelled at football, weight lifting, baseball and golf. He was a member of the FCCLA, TSA, PLC and skills USA. Cody also attended the Canadian Valley Vo-Tech in Chickasha where he studied drafting. He was named to the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. He was to be named the Salutatorian of the graduating class of 2013.
Cody loved to make everyone laugh by singing, dancing and being silly. He loved spending time with his girlfriend, Ashley Hannah and his brothers, sisters and friends.
He was preceded in death by: maternal grandparents; James and Barbara Mitchell
Survivors include: father & step mother, Terry & Neely Alexander of Chickasha, Oklahoma; mother and step father, Candace & Danny Stewart of Alex, Oklahoma; brother; Caullen Alexander, "brother"; Jackson Lindgren, sister, Faith Alexander all of Alex, Oklahoma; brother, Aaron Alexander and step brother Lance Thompson both of Chickasha, Oklahoma; step sisters Cigie & Alex Lukens of Quinn Creek, Arizona and Tiffany & Wes Delbridge of Mesa, Arizona; me maw & papaw Terry & LaVerne Alexander of Lindsey, Oklahoma; grandma, Maxine Stewart of Alex, Oklahoma; grandparents, Jim & Sandy Schimmel of Lookeba, Oklahoma, also numerous Aunts Uncles cousins and friends.
Internment will in the Bradley cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

Alex's own Cody Alexander, a 2013 Senior, was killed on 02-20-13 in a tragic accident. Words cannot express our sorrow at the untimely passing of this fine, upstanding young man who was a credit to our small place in the world. Condolences go out to Cody's family, his friends and classmates, Alex School and the entire Alex community.
A candlelight vigil will be held to honor Cody at 6:30 pm on Friday, February 22, 2013, at the Alex School bell tower.

I didn't really know Cody, he was quite a bit younger than me, but I do know that every time I saw him he had a smile on his face and he comes from an extraordinary family. After reading everything everyone else has shared, all their memories and stories of him, I know that I want to strive to raise my children to be someone like Cody. Someone who always smiled and always made people smile, someone who was there for anyone that needed him, someone that loved unconditionally, and most important someone that truly shined the light of Jesus every single day. Coming up with some words to say about Cody Blaine Alexander is difficult. He was so much to so many! Special memories of him in... elementary PE, football games, around school, after-prom last year, flash through my mind. Every memory of him, a smile upon his face. And this picture... It says so much about who Cody was. He was a someone you could hold on to. Someone always facing the Son. Someone ready to tackle the next adventure. Ask someone to hold you, tell someone to let you be, but grieve. What it takes for you to say goodbye is the right way. Remember to allow each other the courtesy to find their way. ALEX, Okla. – A Grady County community is grieving the loss of a high school senior Thursday.
Cody Alexander died Wednesday morning in a crash along Highway 19.
The Alex high school football player was on his way to school at the time.
He also took classes at the Canadian Valley Technology Center.
The teen's vehicle was almost unrecognizable at the crash site.
We're told Alexander collided with a semi and that the winter weather likely played a role in the accident.
Councilors and pastors have been brought in to help students and faculty through the tragic loss.
A memorial service is planned for 6 p.m. Friday at Alex high school.

Half the town of Alex turned out Friday night for a candlelight vigil to honor a high school student who died earlier this week.
Cody Alexander, 18, died Wednesday morning, after the highway patrol says he lost control of his pickup truck on State Road 19.

On Friday night, more close to 300 people gathered outside Alex School for the vigil.
Frankie Brantley is a fellow senior at the school, and says when her family moved to Alex two years ago, Alexander was the first person who reached out to her to make her feel welcome.
"He was loved by a lot of people," she said. "We will never forget him."
Alexander's funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Alex school gymnasium.

Road conditions blamed in fatal car accident that claims Alex teen

Alex is mourning the loss of a high school senior after a fatal car accident this morning. Cody B. Alexander, 18, died at the scene from massive injuries.
According to the report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Alexander was in his 1996 Ford pickup, westbound on State Highway 19, half a mile east of County Road 2910 when he lost control due to slush on the roadway around 7:30 a.m. The pickup went into a broad slide and was struck by a 2011 Mack Truck driven by Sanford E. Hicks of Elk City.
The Mack Truck, which was traveling eastbound, struck the passenger side front of Cody's pickup. He was pinned for approximately 45 minutes. He died from massive injuries sustained in the crash. The truck driver refused treatment at the scene for a hand injury.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. The report lists unsafe speed for ice or snow on the roadway as the cause of the accident

Half the town of Alex turned out Friday night for a candlelight vigil to honor a high school student who died earlier this week.
Cody Alexander, 18, died Wednesday morning, after the highway patrol says he lost control of his pickup truck on State Road 19.

On Friday night, more close to 300 people gathered outside Alex School for the vigil.
Frankie Brantley is a fellow senior at the school, and says when her family moved to Alex two years ago, Alexander was the first person who reached out to her to make her feel welcome.
"He was loved by a lot of people," she said. "We will never forget him."
Alexander's funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Alex school gymnasium.

Road conditions blamed in fatal car accident that claims Alex teen

Alex is mourning the loss of a high school senior after a fatal car accident this morning. Cody B. Alexander, 18, died at the scene from massive injuries.
According to the report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Alexander was in his 1996 Ford pickup, westbound on State Highway 19, half a mile east of County Road 2910 when he lost control due to slush on the roadway around 7:30 a.m. The pickup went into a broad slide and was struck by a 2011 Mack Truck driven by Sanford E. Hicks of Elk City.
The Mack Truck, which was traveling eastbound, struck the passenger side front of Cody's pickup. He was pinned for approximately 45 minutes. He died from massive injuries sustained in the crash. The truck driver refused treatment at the scene for a hand injury.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. The report lists unsafe speed for ice or snow on the roadway as the cause of the accident

Funeral services will be held for Cody Blaine Alexander, 18, of Alex at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013, in the Alex High School Gymnasium with Clem Cassmeyer and Kim Hayes officiating.
Cody was born in Norman, Oklahoma, on August 10, 1994, the son of Terry Alexander and Candace Mitchell. He died on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, in Alex.
Cody grew up in Alex where he was very active in the South Main Street Church of Christ. His passion was for his savior Jesus Christ and his work here on earth. He was a senior in high school where he excelled at football, weight lifting, baseball and golf. He was a member of the FCCLA, TSA, PLC and skills USA. Cody also attended the Canadian Valley Vo-Tech in Chickasha where he studied drafting. He was named to the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. He was to be named the Salutatorian of the graduating class of 2013.
Cody loved to make everyone laugh by singing, dancing and being silly. He loved spending time with his girlfriend, Ashley Hannah and his brothers, sisters and friends.
He was preceded in death by: maternal grandparents; James and Barbara Mitchell
Survivors include: father & step mother, Terry & Neely Alexander of Chickasha, Oklahoma; mother and step father, Candace & Danny Stewart of Alex, Oklahoma; brother; Caullen Alexander, "brother"; Jackson Lindgren, sister, Faith Alexander all of Alex, Oklahoma; brother, Aaron Alexander and step brother Lance Thompson both of Chickasha, Oklahoma; step sisters Cigie & Alex Lukens of Quinn Creek, Arizona and Tiffany & Wes Delbridge of Mesa, Arizona; me maw & papaw Terry & LaVerne Alexander of Lindsey, Oklahoma; grandma, Maxine Stewart of Alex, Oklahoma; grandparents, Jim & Sandy Schimmel of Lookeba, Oklahoma, also numerous Aunts Uncles cousins and friends.
Internment will in the Bradley cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

Alex's own Cody Alexander, a 2013 Senior, was killed on 02-20-13 in a tragic accident. Words cannot express our sorrow at the untimely passing of this fine, upstanding young man who was a credit to our small place in the world. Condolences go out to Cody's family, his friends and classmates, Alex School and the entire Alex community.
A candlelight vigil will be held to honor Cody at 6:30 pm on Friday, February 22, 2013, at the Alex School bell tower.

I didn't really know Cody, he was quite a bit younger than me, but I do know that every time I saw him he had a smile on his face and he comes from an extraordinary family. After reading everything everyone else has shared, all their memories and stories of him, I know that I want to strive to raise my children to be someone like Cody. Someone who always smiled and always made people smile, someone who was there for anyone that needed him, someone that loved unconditionally, and most important someone that truly shined the light of Jesus every single day. Coming up with some words to say about Cody Blaine Alexander is difficult. He was so much to so many! Special memories of him in... elementary PE, football games, around school, after-prom last year, flash through my mind. Every memory of him, a smile upon his face. And this picture... Community mourning loss of Alex student in accident

ALEX, Okla. – A Grady County community is grieving the loss of a high school senior Thursday.
Cody Alexander died Wednesday morning in a crash along Highway 19.
The Alex high school football player was on his way to school at the time.
He also took classes at the Canadian Valley Technology Center.
The teen's vehicle was almost unrecognizable at the crash site.
We're told Alexander collided with a semi and that the winter weather likely played a role in the accident.
