Shawnee resident Ida Jackson died Wednesday at a local nursing home. She was 79.

Mrs. Jackson was born June 2, 1919, in Prairie Valley, Okla., to Grover Cleveland Shirley and Minnie Lee Hudson Shirley. She married Lattie Jackson.

She had lived in the Shawnee and Seminole area most of her life and was the owner of a restaurant and bar. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Cherri Jackson, Tulsa; Jerry and Gayle Jackson, Oklahoma City; stepson, Kenneth and Pauline Jackson, Yukon; stepdaughter, Marilyn Sue and Joe Wright, Stroud; brother, James Shirley, Dallas, Texas; sisters, Stella Riggs, Shawnee; Lavern Neavett, Topeka, Kan.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lattie Jackson; brothers, Vernon and Aaron Shirley; sister, Kate Holley; and stepson, Floyd Jackson.
