Mr. John Quincy Alexander, 83, died at the home of E. P. Chilton here Monday. Mr. Alexander was born in Cumberland County but spent more than forty years of his active life in Campbellsville during which time he was on the road as traveling salesman for the Carter Dry Goods Company of Louisville and became widely known over the State. He returned from the road about eight years ago and has been in failing health since that time. During his long residence here, Mr. Alexander is said to have been a highly respected citizen. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, in which he served as an Elder, and was otherwise prominently associated in the affairs of the community. Mr. Alexander's wife, Mrs. Tabitha McGee Alexander, preceded him in death twenty one years. He is survived by two sons: Dr. P. M. Alexander, of Martinsville, Indiana, and J. W. Alexander, of Lexington. He also leaves one brother and two sisters who reside in Texas. Three grandchildren also survive him. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church here at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, by his pastor, Rev. Alfred Erickson. Burial in Brookside Cemetery. Active pallbearers: Charlie Barbee, Elijah Johnson, Burr Gilpin, Jr., Dick Marshall, Mark Chandler, and Martin Wood. Honorary pallbearers: Clell McGoode, Ed Hill, Tyler Marshall, J. T. Gowdy, Dr. B. T. Black, Dr. F. I. Buckner, Dr. Burr Atkinson, Dr. C. V. Hiestand, Jim Durham, Chas. J. Coakley, Walter Hoskins, and J. D. Eubanks. Elders: T. W. Buchanan, John Turner, F. W. Taylor, and J. H. Chandler. Deacons: Will Cloyd, Richard Burress, Paul Johnson, Dr. M. M. Hall and J. W. Ramsey.
