A clerk with Southern Railway for 26 years; a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church; and a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks.
Survivors also include his daughters, Dorothy Louise West Smith, Beverly June West (1935–2013), Nancy West Hallman, Margaret Ann West Bolton (1939–2010), and Margie Alfrieda West Lipscomb; and sons, Burton Emisly West (1929–2004), Noel Jerome West (1933–2004), Douglas D. West, William Daniel West (1949–2013), Alfred David West (1951–2008), Everette E. West, and Michael E. West;
sisters, Minnie Inez West Lawter (1900–1976) and Ruby Estelle West McArthur (1902-1991); brothers, Joseph Pearson West (1912–1989), James Everett West (1921–2006), and Harold Eugene West (1925–1996); and ten grandchildren.
Also predeceased by a son, Donald West (1927–1927).
Services were held at 3:00 pm, December 4, 1968, at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church by Rev. Burley Bonner and Rev. Dewitt Clyde; burial was in the church cemetery.
