PFC Richard L. Baker was the son of Barley Broxton and Keron Beamon Baker and husband of Elizabeth Sumrell Baker. He enlisted in the U.S. Army April 11, 1944 and served in the 101st Infantry Division, Company B. He served in World War II and received an honorable discharge March 7, 1946 with a bronze star and purple heart.
