Clarence Hicks, 71, of Oakwood died at 2:42 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 17, 2013) at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.

He was born on May 29, 1941 in Mahomet to Harley and Ruth Spencer Hicks.

He married Judy Zsarnay in 1967. She preceded him in death in 1979.

He later married Yvonne S. Tyler on September 22, 1984 in Reddick. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2011.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Randy Hicks.

He is survived by a son, Russell (Stacey) Hicks; three brothers, Keith (Linda) Hicks, Harley (Jayne) Hicks, Jr. and Lyle (Nyla) Hicks; two sisters, Olive Alderson and Edith Johnson; two granddaughters, Kathryn and Sarah Hicks and several nieces and nephews.

He served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. During this time, he volunteered for two tours of duty and continued on in the Marine Corp Reserves.

He was a member of the VFW Gung Ho Post 6750 in Rantoul where he served as Commander from 1994 to 1996.

Clarence worked at Quaker Oats in Danville until his retirement after 25 years and enjoyed traveling.
