Betty J. (Schneckloth) Nelson, 79, of Davenport, IA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, September 2, 2022.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 9, at the Runge Mortuary from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 10, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with a visitation one hour prior. She will be laid to rest in Pine Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Betty was born July 8, 1943, to Clarence and Beatrice (Sherman) Schneckloth in Davenport, IA. She was proud of growing up in the country and attending a one-room schoolhouse. On September 15, 1962 she was united in marriage to Dale A. Nelson at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport. He passed away August 27, 2010.

Betty was a kind-hearted and generous woman who donated to many charities and organizations. For 45 years she was involved with multiple Davenport PTA's such as Adams Elementary, William Junior High, and she served as Davenport PTA Council President for 2 years. She founded and administered the Betty Nelson Career Technical Scholarship for 22 years up until 2022. Betty was also a very involved board member of the D.A.R.E. program for 16 years. She made many wonderful, lasting friendships through her involvement in the PTA and other organizations. Some of her most special, lifelong friends were known as the "Lunch Bunch".

Those left to celebrate her life are her children, Bob (Kathy) Nelson and Diana (Matt) Burnett; grandchildren, Collin Burnett, Adam and Dan Ragona; and sister, Karen Hinkson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Scott A. Nelson.
