Larry Lee Bland, 73, of Haines City, Florida, formerly of Colchester, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 2:09 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, at the Heart of Florida Hospital in Davenport, Florida.
He was born in Macomb, Illinois on March 11, 1939 as the son of Pauline ( Jarvis ) and Lewis Alfred Bland, both of whom are deceased. His sister Shirley Apperson, is also deceased.
Larry attended Macomb High School and afterwards began a 57 year long love of driving a semi over the road for companies such as Case I.H., Arkansas Best Freight and in later years he drove for Rush Peterbilt of San Antonio, Texas.
Larry married Miss Judith Ann Black on December 25, 1961 at the Fandon Christian Church. On December 25, 2011 the couple celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They lived in the Macomb area all of their lives until 2004 when they moved to Haines City, Florida and made their home there.
During the 1960's he was in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning Georgia and served on the U.S. Honor Guard. He was also in the Illinois National Guard and was a member of the Stand by Ready Reserves. Larry was a member of the Macomb V.F.W. and the Macomb American Legion serving on the Honor Guard. He also was a member of the Fandon Christian Church.
He was a past member of the Colchester Masonic Lodge, Quincy Consistory, Peoria Shriners, Order of the Eastern Star, Elks Lodge and Winter Haven Florida Moose Lodge.
Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife Judy ; daughter Tereasa Vester of Aurora, Illinois ; two granddaughters Bethany Way and Kylie Vester of Aurora, Illinois ; three nieces and three nephews.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial and graveside services in Macomb are pending.

He was born March 11, 1939 in Macomb, Illinois to Lewis Alfred and Pauline (Jarvis) Bland. Larry was united in marriage on December 25, 1961 to Judith A. Bland, at the Fandon Christian Church, She survives of Florida.
Surviving to mourn his passing is his wife of 51 years, Judy of Florida, 1 Daughter; Tereasa (Brian) Stringer, 2 Granddaughters: Bethany Way and Kylie Vester of Aurora, Illinois and 3 Nieces and 3 Nephews.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents and 1 Sister: Shirley Apperson.
Larry attended Macomb High School. He retired from Arkansaw Best Freight, having worked for J.I. Case, USF Holland, Tri-State Rush Enterprises of San Antonio, Texas, Smith Truck Line, Helton Truck line and Wayland Ready-Mix. Larry was a member of the Macomb American Legion and a social member of the Macomb V.F.W., he serving on the Legion and VFW military honor guard. He was a past member of the Colchester Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Quincy Consistory, Peoria Shrine, Macomb Elks Lodge, Macomb Eagles, Colchester Lions Club, Winter Haven Florida Moose Lodge. He was a member of Fandon Christian Church.
Larry served his country in the Illinois National Guard, Ready stand by reserves and the United States Army at Fort Benning, Georgia, were he also serving on the Military Honor Guard.
Graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 25, 2013, with the Rev. Lee Unger. Jones Mortuary in Colchester is handling arrangements for the family. Military services at the grave will be conducted by the Macomb American Legion and Macomb V.F.W. Memorial has been established in care of The Wounded Warrior Project.
