Leona Boeckermann was born on Nov. 9, 1928, in Meire Grove to Herman and Anna (Middendorf) Klaphake. She was united in marriage to Edmund N. Boeckermann on May 11, 1948, at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove.
The couple farmed in Krain Township until retiring in 1985, when they moved to a home in Millwood Township. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. Leona enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends, quilting and embroidery and gardening.
Survivors include five children, eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, along with six siblings, She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edmund on Jan. 22, 2001; and son, Melvin on Oct. 25, 1970.
