Mrs. Tharp, a resident of Bastrop, LA, a homemaker and entertainer, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013. Mrs. Tharp was a member of Gatlinburg Church of God and attended First United Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Tharp was an avid entertainer and and excellent cook. Mrs. Tharp sang professionally in Pigeon Forge, TN and was the 1967 winner on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour Show. Mrs. Tharp is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Cleon and Lolette Roberts; husband, Willie A. Tharp; daughter, Betty Jean Tharp; grandson, Rev. B.J. Tharp; brothers, Claude Roberts, Richard Roberts, Herman Roberts; and sister, Evelyn Tucker.
Mrs. Tharp is survived by her grandchildren, Bill Tharp and wife Carolyn Tharp of Bastrop, LA, Sherry Jones and husband Haron of Gilbert, LA, Terry Tharp of Bastrop, LA, Kathy Carruth and husband Jerry of McComb, MS, Lavelle Tharp and wife Jeanie of Archibald, LA; fourteen great grandchildren; and twenty-seven great great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jody Morgan, Jobie Tharp, Charles Tharp, Johnathan Carruth, Thomas Tahrp, and Jason Tharp. Honorary pallbearers will be Kaden Tharp and Jody Morgan II.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church.
