Mrs. Campsie Cooksey, 78 years old, wife of the late Harvey Cooksey, died about 4:30 o'clock Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dorotha Steiner, near Coal City, where she was being cared for for a short time.
She was born July 12, 1886, in Owen COunty, a daughter of the late Newton Smiley and Avis Corns Smiley.
Her husband, Harvey Cooksey preceded her in death in 1961. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Gary Cooksey in November, 1964.
Mrs. Cooksey was a member of the Spencer Baptist Church, and attended regularly when health permitted. During the past several years she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Casida.
Survivors include two sons, Gilbert Cooksey of Spencer; and Argie Cooksey of Gosport R.R. 1. She also leaves the two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Casida, Spencer R.R.2, and Mrs. Dorotha Steiner, Coal City R.R. Other survivors include one brother, Virgil F. Smiley of Cloverdale, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Finals rites were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the West & Son Funeral Home, Rev. John S. Honeay, pastor of the Baptist Church officiating. Interment was made in Hudson Hill Cemetery.
