George Archimedes "Arkie" Pryor was in law enforcement and was chosen because he was fearless and fast with a gun. Arkie was determined to rid the town of Felsenthal of liquor and open saloons. (He helped found the town of Felsenthal in Union County, Arkansas)

On June 18, 1908 Arkie went to the railroad station to meet a Revenue Officer when Dr. John M. Perrine approached him, accused him of interfering with his business, pulled a knife and stabbed him. Arkie was carried to Huttig for better care, but bled to death from the wound.
Perrine's trial was to be held in El Dorado in Union County on October 21. 1908 but Perrine suffered a heart attack and the trial postponed.
