Son of Henry Lewis GROVENSTEIN, was born 5 Mar 1829. He enlisted in Company A, 2nd Battalion, Georgia Cavalry on 7 Sep 1861, at Savannah, Georgia. He was elected 3rd Corporal on 24 May 1862. George transferred to Company I, 5th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry on 20 Jan 1863. Corporal Grovenstein was detailed to the Convalescent Horse Camp at Union Springs, Alabama, on 8 Aug 1864. George William married Cornelia Naomi METZGER on 6 Feb 1850. He died on 12 July 1879.
