Sister DIEDERICH, OP ADRIAN, MICHIGAN - October 7, 2007 Sister Adella Diederich, formerly known as Sister Louis Marie, died at Mt. St. Vincent in Seattle. She was 78 years of age and in the 60th year of her religious profession as a Dominican Sister. Sister Adella was born in Bakersfield, California to Fred and Mary (Bens) Diederich. Sister Adella graduated from St. Francis High School in Bakersfield, California, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Seattle University; a Master of Science Degree in Chemistry from St. Louis University, and a Master of Arts Degree in Theology from St. Mary College in Moraga, California. Sister Adella was an excellent teacher and spent 47 years ministering in education in Seattle, Everett, Chehalis and Tulalip, Washington; Pittsburgh and San Diego, California; Miles City, Montana, and Jiangman City Guangdong, China. She ministered in Religious Education on the Tulalip Indian Reservation for eight years and at Our Mother of Confidence in San Diego for seven years. Sister Adella was an ESL Instructor from 1997 to 2001 at the American Cultural Exchange in Seattle. It was a highlight of sister's life to teach from 2001 to 2005 at Wuyi University in Jiangmen City Guangdong, China. Sister Adella became a resident of Assumption Convent in Seattle in 2006. Sister Adella is survived by a sister, Mrs. Teresa Greene of Bakersfield, California and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sister Katherine Diederich, also an Adrian Dominican Sister. A Vigil Service will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at Assumption Convent, 6200 33rd Ave. NE, Seattle, WA. The Funeral Liturgy will be offered at St. Joseph Residence, 4800 37th Ave. SW, Seattle, WA on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
