Funeral services for James W. Ashbrook were conducted Sunday afternoon, July 29, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Sam L. Rochester and the Rev. Oscar Nichols officiating. Interment was in Brookside Cemetery. He was a member of the Campbellsville Methodist Church. Mr. Ashbrook was born in Russell County on November 11, 1872, the son of the late John and Sally Burress Ashbrook, and died Friday, July 27 at his home on South Jackson Street in Campbellsville. Mr. Ashbrook was an ice dealer here for 23 years, retiring in 1950. He was also an ardent supporter of the Republican Party in Campbellsville for a number of years. He was united in marriage to Miss Laura Bailey on April 28, 1894. She preceded him in death in 1955. To this union two daughters and one son were born. Surviving are Mrs. Layton Sanders and J. Paul Ashbrook, both of this city. Besides his two children, he is survived by one brother and one sister, Tom Ashbrook and Mrs. Mat Wilson, both of Russell Springs. Pallbearers were Wesley Pendleton, William Farmer, Oscar Patton, Hobert Garner, Brent Hall and Howard Smith.
