Mrs. Velma Pauline Glenn, 89, of Marion, passed away, Sunday, March 19, 2006, at Autumn Care of Marion. Born Aug. 4, 1916, in Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late William Lazarus Blevins and Maggie Silvers Blevins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Glenn was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Arnold Glenn and two brothers. Mrs. Glenn was a member of the Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church where she was an active charter member of the Golden Age Club and the Outreach Committee. She was a homemaker and a very talented seamstress and gardener. Mrs. Glenn leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons, Gerald Glenn and wife, Sherry, and Mickey Glenn and wife, Joan, all of Marion; a daughter, Margaret Buckner and husband, Gordon Northrop of Marion; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews will also remember her fondly. Funeral services for Mrs. Glenn will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at the Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Allen and Wayne Slaton officiating. Interment will follow at the McDowell Memorial Park.
