James Leadingham
1904-1999
James E. Leadingham, 95, of Ashland, died Sunday in Wurtland Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Leadingham was born March 21, 1904, in Elliott County, a son of the late Tom and Bertha Renfroe Leadingham. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eva Bates Leadingham in 1996; a son, Russell Leadingham; and two daughters, Betty Jo Leadingham and Delores Mae Salyers. He was a truck driver with Teamsters Local 505 of Huntington, W.Va., and was a member of the 13th Street Freewill Baptist Church in Ashland. Surviving are a son, Tommy Leadingham of Ashland; four sisters, Bess Laventure of Brighton, Mich., Martha Donaldson of Leland, Mich., Lorene Hoogasian of Highland, Mich., and Ann Rakay of Lincoln Park, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The funeral will be conducted at 2pm Wednesday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by the Rev. Jack Skeens. Burial will be in Sparks Cemetery, West Happy Ridge, Ashland. Friends may call from 6 to 9pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
