Carrie Mabel McClure
was born February 5, 1876, in Macdonough county, Illinois. She was the daughter of William and Martha McClure. They moved to Kansas in 1879.
She was married to Fred Strode January 16, 1900. Two children came to bless this union – both boys. The first lived only a few days, the second was born May 1st, 1903.
Several months ago Mrs. Strode took poorly and gradually grew worse. She took severely ill May 4th, and after intense suffering quietly passed away May 10th at 11:45 p.m. She was 27 years, 4 months and 5 days old.

She leaves to mourn her departure, a kind father, an affectionate husband, two brothers, one sister, a little son eleven days old, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the family residence north-west of Cherokee at 2 p.m., May 11, by W.C. Willey, pastor of the Christian church. Interment took place at the Cherokee cemetery.
