She had long curly red hair and blue eyes. Her parents both had blue eyes; her father had wavy auburn colored hair. Her mother's twin sister had red hair so the red hair may have come from the Roper side of the family.
She drowned in the Nantahala River as a result of a car accident on July 3, 1937. Her parents and brother, Jesse Mitchell "Bud" Grant survived.
About a week before she died, she and her Mom planted a rose bush near the bridge/creek on her Aunt Texie Grant's property (now part of Lost Mine Campground).
