Thelma K. Dyche Shriner, 101, of Monaca, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013, at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born August 3, 1911, in Frostburg, Md., she was the last of seven children born the late John and Emma Phillips. She attended Beall Jr. Sr. High School in Frostburg, Md., prior to marrying her first husband, John Close, who was tragically killed in a truck accident. She then married Charles Dyche, who passed away in 1948. She married William Shriner and later relocated to Beaver County in the early 1950's. Mr. Shriner preceded her in death in 1979. Thelma moved into the then newly built Edgecombe Apartments as one of the original residents and was proud of the fact that she had lived there the longest and was the oldest resident of the building. She spent many happy years there and made numerous friends. Thelma led an active life, enjoying bingo and playing the card game 500. Protestant by faith, she attended Monacrest Free Methodist Church.

In addition to her husbands and parents, Thelma was preceded in death by a grandson, Trent Anthony Tuffie, and her siblings, Herman Phillips, Victor Phillips, David Phillips Jeanette Harriman, Pearl Brode and Ann Stephaconis.

She leaves three children, Donna Michael and her husband, Louis, and Jeanette Tuffie and her husband, August 'Buzz', all of Center Township, and John 'Jack' Shriner and his wife, Patricia, of Ohioville; six grandchildren, JoEllen Michael, Karen (Morad) Boroomand, Louis Michael, Theresa (Dr. Ramesh) Kaul, Dean Tuffie and Lainie (Ben) Tuffie-Liptak, and the proud great-grandmother of Trent Liptak and Alexander and Abraham Kaul.
