Cornelia was born to Seth Otis Gordinier and Orange May Hitchcock, the sixth of nine children. She married Samuel Lynn who fought in the Civil War and was a bodyguard to Abraham Lincoln. Samuel was guarding the front of the Ford Theatre the night that Lincoln was assassinated.

The couple moved to Newton, Kansas and then to Arkansas. Their son, Hubbard was born about 1874 and is buried in Newton, along with his mother Cornelia and Cornelia's parents and siblings. Cordelia is listed as Alice Lynn on records, has no marker and buried next to son Hubbard.
