CIVIL WAR SERVICE SUMMARY OF GEORGE WARREN PEASE
George W. Pease was the first Post Commander of Sterling Post #74, Wayland, Allegan County, Michigan which was organized on 31 Aug 1882.

On March 31, 1865 at age 24 George entered the service of the 197th Ohio Infantry as an Asst. Surgeon. He was mustered at Camp Chase in Ohio on April 12, 1865. His period of service was to be for one year. However, on July 31, 1865 he was mustered out with his regiment at Camp Bradford, Baltimore, MD at the close of the war.

On Sept. 20, 1865 George re-entered service again as an Assistant Surgeon for a period of three years. He was 25 years of age. This time he was with the 12th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Cavalry. He was mustered out with the regiment on November 14, 1865 at Nashville, TN (See his multiple records under Photos).*
