Ellen Jean Beyl, age 74, resident of Oak Harbor, WA passed away unexpectedly February 10, 2013 and took the journey to go to our heavenly Father. Ellen was born December 4, 1938 in Glendive, Montana to Alfred and Audrey Boese.

She was a graduate of Datson County High School in Glendive, Montana. She met James Beyl and they were married on June 17, 1958 in Hernando, Mississippi where he was stationed in the United States Navy. They ventured to fabulous places together during her husband's military service. They lived in Hawaii, California, Nevada, Memphis, and Washington, where they finally retired.

In 2000, following her husband's second retirement, they moved back to their home town in Glendive, Montana. But, in 2007 because of medical issues with her husband they found themselves moving back to Oak Harbor to be near their daughter.

Ellen was an active member of the Oak Harbor Lutheran Church. Ellen and her husband have lived at Harbor Tower Assisted Living for the past year and a half. At Harbor Tower she enjoyed going to church on Sundays, having her hair done Fridays, and playing bingo.

Ellen worked as a waitress at the Norwester Club and Country Kitchen. She also worked at Melco Manufacturing, did house cleaning and thoroughly enjoyed selling Avon during her spare time. It was the socializing she enjoyed the most when selling her Avon. Her passions were her children, family, ceramics, sewing, crocheting blankets, playing canasta and other card games, gardening, and later on she enjoy making crochet coat hangers to pass out to everybody. If anybody knew Ellen they owned at least one of her coat hangers.

Ellen had a heart of gold. Always giving kind words to everybody and always had a cheerful personality. She was a very giving person and full of laughter and love. She was always passing out kisses and touched everybody's heart. She had a wonderful outlook on life and was full of Christ in her heart. Ellen was one amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. We will miss her laughter and special love so very much.

Ellen is survived by her husband James Lee Beyl of almost 55 years, her daughters, Sherry (Brian) Nussmeier of Evansville, In , Jamie (Rodger) Sanders-Beaumont of Oak Harbor; her son James Beyl Jr. of Medford, OR., two brothers Dean (Sharla) Boese and Bob (Rita) Boese. Twelve grandchildren John Nussmeier, Jennifer Clavert, Tyson Jeans, Je Blythe, Kyle Sanders, Marcus Nussmeier, Cera Blythe, Sarah Nussmeier, Cody Sanders, James Beyl 3rd, Hunter Beyl, and Nathan Blythe and six great grandchildren.

Ellen is preceded in death by her daughter Kim Blythe in 2009; three brothers Jerry, Loren, and Kenny Boese; her father Alfred Boese, mother Audrey Boub Boese, and loving step mother Lena Boese.

A celebration of Ellen's life will be held at Wallin Funeral Home on Friday February 15, 2013 at 11:00 am with Pastor Thomas Stoneham officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held at the funeral home immediately following the service. A private family burial will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
