Alice "Arty" E. Karr, 87, of Defiance, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Glenn Park of Defiance surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 23, 1925 to Carl and Bertha Thomas in Holgate, OH. On October 23, 1949 she married Durward "Red" A. Karr and he passed away on February 10, 1990.

Alice was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, Defiance Elks, and the New Bavaria VFW. She was a Holgate High School graduate, worked at the Zeller Corporation and enjoyed dancing, camping, traveling, garage sales and her card club.

Arty is survived by her daughters, Deb (Stew) Baldwin of Grand Rapids, Denise (Rick) Massengale of Defiance, sons, David (Cathy) Karr of Defiance, Douglas (Karen) Karr of Defiance, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents. husband, daughter, Dawn Marie Karr, brother, Leroy Thomas, sisters, Francis "Sis" Schuller, Gertrude "Tootie" Ziegler and Hazel "Hazy" Cummins.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013, in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memory Gardens.
