Phil B. Harris, was the son of the late Phillip D. Harris and Bennie Barton Harris, was born July 24, 1918, in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee and died February 13, 2013. He was educated in the Greenfield school system, graduating from Greenfield High School in 1936, He attended the University of Tennessee Junior College 1936-37 and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with an A.B. degree in 1940:attended The University of Virginia Law School 1940-42:entered military service in March 1943 was discharged from service as 1st Lt. June 4, 1946: returned to Law School and graduated from University of Virginia Law School with a Bachelor of Law/Juris Doctorate Degree. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Alexander Harris. Survivors includes his wife Jane Sorrells Harris; children Suzanne(Hunter)Welles, Pattie(Roger)Jenne and Bart(Pam) Harris;grandchildren Hunt Welles, Sanna Welles Tucker,Michael Jenne, Matthew Jenne, Josh Jenne, Phillip Harris, Holly Harris Holt, and Hailey Harris Geabhart and great grandchildren Mary Mitchell Tucker, Jackson Tucker, Ashton Jenne, Riley Jenne, Will Jenne, Jake Jenne, Harris Jenne, Connor Jenne, Carter Holt, Cooper Holt Gracie Geabhart and Emerson Geabhart. He was City Attorney for the City of Greenfield 1948 - 1966; County Attorney for Weakley County, Tennessee 1957 - 1959; Member of the Greenfield Rotary Club for 63 years, was past President of the club and A Paul Harris Fellow:was pst Commander of American Legion Post 133; was State Senator of the 28th Senatorial District in the 1953 and 1955 terms of the Tennessee General Assembly, and was a member of the State and American Bar Associations. His Father, Phillip D. Harris returned from Washington, D.C. and joined him in the practice pf law on January 1, 1964. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield where he taught a Sunday School Class for some fifteen years, was a deacon and on the Board of Elders for 60 yrs. Pallbearers will be Hunt Welles, Phillip Welles, Michael Jenne, Matthew Jenne, Josh Jenne and Jack Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank(Buddy) Sorrells and Harry Ward. The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield February 15, 2012 from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be held February 16, 2013 at Greenfield First Presbyterian Church at 11am.
