In 1901 they migrated to Lafayette, Yamhill, Oregon where they purchased a 240 acre farm call the Judge Denny Place. There siblings Myrtle Wilma, Nina Elsie, and Fred were born, Nina and Fred being twins. Fred died at birth.
The family next moved to Bachelor's Island located in the Columbia River near Richfield, Clark, Washington. It was here that Mabel died of cancer of the hip. Sister Clara Mae was born here in 1907.
The island flooded frequently resulting in the family moving once again in 1909. This time to Ranier, Columbia, Oregon where Jacob worked at logging. It was here that sister Laura Gladys was born.
In 1912 the Christopherson family returned to Yamhill County to a small farm near Newburg, Yamhill, Oregon. It is not known if John accompanied them.
By 1916, the Christopherson's had purchased the Farrens Place in Gooseberry, Morrow, Oregon (south of Ione) and moved once more, this time to farm the wheat fields of Morrow County. John Christopherson lived with them there.
When the USA got involved in WWI, President Woodrow Wilson declared June 5, 1917 as War Census Day. So on June 5 of 1917 John, Earnest, and Charlie registered for the draft in Gooseberry, Morrow, Oregon. Charles described himself as medium height and medium build with blue eyes and bown hair.
If anyone knows about Charles' military service, please contact me so that I can include it here.
In the 1920 census for Olex, Gilliam, Oregon, John was living and farming with brothers Charles and Earnest and Earnest's wife Ada Agee Christopherson. Together they farmed several ranches in the Gooseberry area. Brother John died there in 1923 as the result of a shotgun accident.
September 6, 1924 Charles married Opal Lulu Seely, daughter of Harry and Victoria Seely and sister to Leona Seely Christopherson (brother Clifford's wife).
The 1930 census finds the couple living in Ione, Morrow, Oregon with their two young boys. Charles' occupation is given as Farm Operator. Charles died in Portland, Oregon August 15, 1933.
