charles morgan woolems was born in springfield, ill. in nov. of 1830. charlie joined the confederacy on 19th april 1862;Company F, 28th infantry,col. thomas. in july of 1863 he was a prisoner of war & held at vicksburg, mississippi.(mass surender of confederate troops).he entered the civil war as private and was mustered out as sargent in 26 may 1865.
charlie & his wife had 8 children, only 6 surviving to adulthood. charlie applied for his pension papers from the civil war on 10 oct. 1913 in houston county,texas.charlie & elizabeth's life was sometimes of tragedy, tears, adventures, but most of all their life was filled with laughter.
charles morgan woolems was accepted into: Daughters of the Confederacy on 15th aug. 2004 this was accomplished by his gr.gr.gr.grandaughter-sheri.
