Services for Mrs. Katie Morgan Held Friday



Funeral services for Katie Eugenia Harris Morgan, 84, of Tchula were held Friday, January 11 at 10 a.m. from Tchula Baptist Church in Tchula. Rev. Rayford Duck, pastor of Baptist Church in Tchula, and Rev. Leslie Nabors, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington, officiated. Interment was in Harris Chapel Cemetery in Wynne, Arkansas with Southern Funeral Home of Lexington in charge of arrangements.



Mrs. Morgan, a resident of Care Inn Nursing Home in Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, January 9 in Greenwood-Leflore Hospital in Greenwood where she had been a patient for several weeks.



A native of Haynes, Arkansas, Mrs. Morgan was a daughter of the late John Wesley Harris and Mary Strickland Harris. She was a member of Tchula Baptist Church.



Survivors include four daughters: Margaret Rathell of Lexington, Ila Henderson of Tchula, Ester Lou Lett of Fort Worth, Texas, Virgie Milton of Wynne, Arkansas; four sons, Nick Devereux of Leesburg, Fla., Phillip Devereux of Memphis, Tenn., Otto Morgan of Irving, Texas and Thomas Morgan of Wynne, Ark.; one sister, Ethel Hunsaker of Star City, Ark.; one brother, Alton Harris of Leachville, Ark.: and twenty-seven grandchildren.



Pallbearers were Donald Byrd, Bob Gillespie, Lester Lyon, J.P. Love, W.O. Moore, and Vernon Camp.
