Charles J. Riggs, 76, a farmer of near Montpelier for many years died July 25 at a nursing home in Marion. He had lived most of the past three years at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Opal Johnson of Marion and formerly of Van Buren.
Last rites held at a Montpelier funeral home with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery [Warren, Indiana]
In addition to Mrs. Johnson, survivors include four other daughters, Mrs. Elsie Carnes of Muncie; Mrs. Irene Merriam of Jackson, Michigan; Mrs. Nova Bohn and Mrs. Dorothy Carnes of Fort Wayne. Two sons, Merritt D. Riggs, SF2/c, Camp Parks, CA, and Sgt. Wallace W. Riggs, U.S. Army on Okinawa. One sister, Mrs. John Bell of Montpelier, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Lee of Van Buren.
