He married Camilla Pyle, November 17, 1892 and established a home in the Stone community (Grimes County, TX). Five of his 7 children born to them survived. In the early days he farmed and raised cattle. He hauled freight from Huntsville to Bedias with wagon and mules. These round trips required several days. In 1900 he started a store in th eStone community; four years later he moved it to Bedias. A year later he took his store back to Stone where he operated it until 1908. Then he got the urge to go west and get rich, so he moved to Runnels County. He farmed there one year; then, deciding there was no place like home, he moved back once again to the Stone community; this time he stayed. His children were Lucian, Jerry, Eagle, Neelie, and Harley.
