WOOD RIVER - Veda Bernice Wolf, 97, of Wood River, formerly of Grand Island, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Gollaher Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bob Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Wolf was born Nov. 16, 1915, in Loretto to Charles and Leona (Coleman) Courtney.

She was preceded in death by her husband J. Harold Wolf in 1965.

Survivors of the immediate family include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bonnie and Carroll Cloeter of Albion, Donna Borer and Betty and George DeMary, all of Grand Island.

Also surviving include 12 grandchildren and their spouses, 27 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, with two great-great grandchildren expected soon.

Veda attended Loretto School and was united in marriage to Joseph Harold Wolf Nov. 15, 1931, at Bartlett. They lived in Loretto for a year before moving to Tarkio, Mo., 10 years later they moved back to Loretto and began farming, moving to Grand Island in 1952. Veda worked for JC Penny for 32 years retiring in 1981. She also worked concessions at Fonner Park. Mr. Wolf died June 8, 1965.

Veda was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Eagle Auxiliary 378, Rebecca's, Three Links, and a volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center. She enjoyed crafts, candy, and especially spending time with family.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Carrie Kummer, Gladys Havens, and Velma Crosby; brothers, Garrett Courtney and Eldon Courtney; and son-in-law, Ray Borer.
