Cletus was a Mayflower descendant, through Gov William Bradford, Myles Standish and John Alden. The son of Dr. John A Moffitt, MD and Mabel Lena Walter.
He married Esther Joslyn Wartenbe, 15 Jun 1925, Sacramento, Sacramento, CA. From this union they were blessed with three daughters.

He served in the U S Signal Corps during World War I. Re-enlisted in 1919, in U. S. Army Air Corps at Mather Field, California, with the 91st Aero Squadron. Where he installed radio transmitters on aircraft. Later being promoted to Corporal status. He flew with pilots to test their radios in flight on many missions. His squadron patrolled the Mexico-American border. Including flying with Colonel Lowell H Smith a famous pilot [1927, Smith was a major participate in the first flight around the world].

After his honorable discharge he later became Rural Route Mail Carrier for Route Three in Sacramento. This was a walking route and he was acquainted with several hundred people in his local area. He retired in 1965 and was active in National Association of Letter Carriers.

Charter members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) since 1926. Elder in the First Christian Church and Fruitridge Christian Church in Sacramento. Teaching the Adult Sunday School class for many years. As well as choir leader of his church.

Dutifully active in the American Legion since 1920 in three Legion posts in Sacramento, #61,#391,#392. Member of Capital City Lodge #499 of the Free and Accepted Masons in 1959, serving as organist and musician.

His mother taught him music in his formative years, which attributed to his accomplishments as pianist and organist. He also sang in the Orphic Male Octet, consisting of a group of men who sang in churches up and down the Sacramento Valley. He had large hands and reaching over an octave span was an easy task. He played the alto horn for the American Legion and Sacramento Music bands at the dedication of Grant Union High School.

He was able to memorize songs, poems, stories and recite them on any given occasion. He loved playing the piano and singing at his residence to entertain guests.

Cletus was called Clark my his friends and family. He was 89 years old and died peacefully in his sleep-
