Wife of William H Middleton and Thomas Mason Moore, and sister to five brothers who fought for freedom for all in the Massachusetts 54th Infantry and 25th United States Colored Troops

Mrs. Emma J. Moore - Negro church, club and civic cirles experienced quite a loss when Mrs. Emma J. Moore departed this life suddenly, Friday morning, Aug. 29, about 9 o'clock while at family devotions at her home, 1429 Sandusky St. Northside. She had been a zealous worker in every race organization that had for it purpose the uplift of humanity and her efforts were known and appreciated throughout the state. She was a member of the Brown A.M.E. church ever since she was 12 yeras old and was regarded as one of the dependable and always to be relied on members. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon by the Rev. Dr. C.J. Powell, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Dr. Brown of the Metropolitan Baptist Church. Mrs. Christine Miller clemson contributed a vocal tribute, and the floral offerings were many and beautiful. Nearly every race woman's organization in the city and county was represented at the services. Interment was in Uniondale. Mrs. More is survived by her husband, T. Mason Moore and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. The Pittsburgh Press, 7 Sep 1919, Page 11, Editorial and Automobile Section, Afro-American Notes, Column 6
