Loyd Russell Lofton, 80, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013, at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Ray Funeral Home with Bro. Ed Hall officiating. Interment will be in North Cleveland Cemetery.
Mr. Lofton was born June 2, 1932 to Brack Lofton and Ophelia Porter Lofton. On January 10, 1953, he married Mary Nell Skinner in Cleveland. He was a member of Bolivar County Riding Club and Benoit Hunting Club. He was fun loving, an avid deer and fox hunter, a farmer, a storyteller, and the life of the party. He loved his dogs, joking, his friends, the outdoors, horses, field trails, people, and most of all his family. He was known to smile in order to turn bad days into good ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Brack and Ophelia Lofton; five brothers; and three sisters.
Mr. Lofton is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Lofton of Cleveland; daughter, Debbie L. Duncan of Cleveland; son, Terry R. Lofton (Nancy) of Jackson; granddaughters, Sara Beth Duncan of Cleveland, Cary Johnston Vandevender (Justin) of Flowood; and Christine Johnston of Florence; a host of nieces and nephews; and his special care givers, Lena and Louise.
Pallbearers will be John Scates, Doug Estes, Danny Lyons, Montfort Jones, George Wilson, and Charles Boyette. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.
