"Matt Fowler was accidentally killed about Nov. 15 while duck-hunting near Socorro, New Mexico. A gun carried by one of his companions was accidentally discharged, killing Fowler almost instantly. He had been a lawyer in Silver City, New Mexico from the time of his graduation up until 1917, when he moved to Socorro. He was born October 5, 1878, at Marion, Illinois, attended Ewing College and Grant University in Tennessee, before coming to Illinois as a student in law....He is survived by his aged mother and four brothers."
