Charles S. Lincoln served as Clerk of the United States District Court from 1873 until his death in 1901. A member of the Pennsylvania State Bar Association, he had previously served as Assistant Coiner for the United States Mint in Philadelphia from 1857 to 1862, and as Deputy Clerk of the United States District Court from 1862 until his elevation to Clerk. In that duty he handled all the monetary awards issued by the Court.
