A recollection of Edna as told by her brother Robert:

What little I know then of the courtship between Edna and Jack Buchanan is restricted to bits of conversation that occurred in later years. Apparently Jack first saw my sister at a local dance. Good manners in those days demanded that couples be formally introduced. Jack, a local school teacher and principal, introduced himself to my mother and then announced that he would like an introduction to Edna along with the comment that he intended to marry her. Apparently, he had made up his mind the moment he saw her, that this was the girl he was going to marry!

Edna loved people and above all she loved to travel and how fortunate she was to have a husband to indulge her. Among other trips they cruised most of the way around the world on the maiden voyage of a luxury liner, the Canberra. One of the things that Edna and Jack did was to take my mother on a trip to Burbank, California where she had a visit with her two sisters, Nellie and Alma, after a separation of nearly fifty years.
