Second Lieutenant Abmyer, ASN O-691853, was a Bombardier aboard U.S. Army Air Corps B-24E Liberator #42-7408. While on a training flight out of Wendover Field during World War II, he was killed as a result of a mid-air collision with B-24E #42-7183, twelve miles northeast of Hogup Point, near Clyman Bay of the Great Salt Lake, UT.
