At age nineteen Mary and her younger sister Martha Lord were attending St.Peter's Academy boarding school in Wilmington Delaware. Pupils were from Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Maryland, New York, Delaware, Maine, Ohio, Virginia, and Havana Cuba. Source: The Sun Newspaper of Maryland on 9 July 1850.
Mary was married to Charles Malchus Gilberson on 20 July 1854. The 1900 U.S. Census says 3 children were born to Mary and three children are living. Children documented so far are Sallie B. Gilberson born 17 September 1856 in Wheeling West Virginia. Also Mary Josephine Stratton Gilberson born 20 September 1857. She was baptised on 13 June 1858 (with her three given names) in St. Pauls Episcopal Church of Chester, Delaware Co., Pennsylvania.
Mary (Lord) Gilberson's daughters Sallie B. (Gilberson) Berry and Mary Josephine stratton (Gilberson) Hunter - (first husband) Duncan is also buried in Socorro Cemetery.
