Aunt Mary Ann Bovie was born in Hoosick, November 8, 1818, and died at the old home, August 14, 1908, aged 90 years, 9 months, and 6 days.
She was married to Thomas Davis in 1836, who died in 1881. Mrs. Davis joined the Berlin Seventh-day Baptist Church, March, 1848, and for more than 60 years was a faithful, earnest Christian member. Somewhere in the years of 1843 to 1845, she with Elder H. H. Baben and Mrs. David Green organized a Bible School. There are a number of people here who hold "reward merits" given to them for faithful attendance and committing of verses. One of these cards is dated 1845. Mrs. Davis embraced the Sabbath after her marriage to Thomas Davis and was a faithful Sabbath-keeper as long as she lived, though for many years not living where she could attend church.
Funeral services were held in the Seventh-day Baptist Church of Berlin, and the large number of people present attested the esteem in which the community held her. Sermon by the pastor from the words, "Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
