Walter Julius Bechthold, of Lodi, passed away on Friday morning, April 22, 2011, at the age of 90, at a local convalescent home. He was born August 15, 1920, in Lodi, to Abraham and Matilda Bechthold. Mr. Bechthold worked as a Tool and Die Engineer for thirty years. He served in the U. S. Marines in World War II. He enjoyed woodworking and farming. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann (Fred) Gevas of Atascadero and Cathy Thomas of Lodi; grandchildren, Justin Thomas, Lisa Irot, Melani Taylor, Liani Gevas; great grandchildren, Kyle Baker, Brett Taylor, Zachary Corpuel, and Tanner Corpuel; and sister, Claudine Eibing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bechthold, four brothers, and three sisters. Friends are invited to visit on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A cryptside service will be held on Monday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, Ohio, 45250.
