Don's family moved to Prospect and he enjoyed being a part of FFA, raising sheep for the county fair. He graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1966 and then received his Masters Degree from Miami University in 1968.
Don was passionate about private collegiate education and devoted most of his career to that end, holding a number of positions in college academic recruiting beginning as an admissions representative in Ohio. From there he served as director of admissions for Colorado Women's College in Denver, Upper Iowa University in Fayette and finally, Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL. During this time Don was also active at the state and national levels of the professional organization the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
Following his admissions career, he worked in hotel and restaurant management before returning to Prospect where he turned his talents to interior decorating
He is survived by close friends, Murial Smith, Wally and Gwen Janeczek, Brad Green, Dianne Lawrence and many good friends too numerous to mention.
Besides his mother and father, Don was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Richard and his twin brother, Ronald.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Prospect Cemetery with Pastor Steve Whitaker officiating. A gathering of friends will take place on Tuesday from 4 to 6 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Prospect.
