Per War of 1812 Pension Application of Ransom E Bayard ~ 01 May 1813 Ransom E Bayard enlisted at Hounds Field for the term of the war and was honorably discharged at Sackets Harbor February 1815. His personal description at the time of his enlistment was: 25 years of age, height 5 feet 11 inches, Red hair and Blue eyes.

According to the biography of his son, George W Baird, in Randall’s Illus. Atlas of Winnebago County, WI, Published 1889 ~ Ransom, Elizabeth and children left New York when George was 13 [ca1831-1833] settling in Medina County, Ohio where they lived awhile and then moved to Allen County, Indiana where they lived about three years. They then went back to Ohio and stayed until 1843 when they moved to Wisconsin.

16 Jun 1872 a statement was given and signed by O A Quimby; sent to A N Zevely, Atty.
...you will see that Ransom E Baird says that he does not know how he wrote his or spelled his name at the time he enlisted for his Brothers and Father sometimes spelled their’s Bayard and sometimes Baird and sometimes Bard.

DIED.
BAIRD – In Clayton, on Sunday, Feb. 1st 1880, Ransom E Baird, aged 91 years.
Mr. Baird was born in Connecticut, moved to Lewis Co., state of New York, about seventy years ago, resided there until 1843, when following the tide of Western emigration he came to Wisconsin, and located in the town of Menasha, residing with his son G. W. Baird, who subsequently moved to the town of Clayton where the aged patriarch fell asleep ripe in years and with a faith right and joyful that he should be gathered at last with a ransomed world into the fold of the great Shepard of souls.
A large concourse of people followed the aged father’s remains to the grave on Tuesday last. Rev. Mr. Lombard officiating

MR. RANSOM E BAIRD, father of Geo. W. Baird, of Clayton, died at the residence of his son on the 1st inst., at the age of 91 years. He was one of the pioneers of the county.

In addition to the children listed below Ransom and Elizabeth were the parents of Elizabeth born ca 1818, Maria born ca 1835, and a male child born ca 1837.
