Paul J. Boileau, 47, was all of those things and more, said the many friends who are mourning his death after he was struck and run over by a Hyster straddle-lift truck as he walked along a shipyard pier on a beautiful sunny afternoon.
Boileau was born Nov. 13, 1950, in Spokane, where he grew up. He became involved with Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts as a youth, and remained with the organization the rest of his life.
Friends said he attended Gonzaga University in Spokane with the intention of studying to become a priest. But he later changed his mind, moved to Bremerton and went to work at PSNS in about 1979.
He also became scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 1501 in Bremerton and joined the Knights of Columbus, a fraternal and service organization for men in the Roman Catholic Church, working his way up to ""faithful navigator,"" the highest possible rank.
