Penny Bowers Cartner, 70, of Statesville, went to meet her savior, Jesus, on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
She was born September 29, 1942 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Otis and Thelma Bowers Bowers. She attended Statesville Schools and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Penny was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Cartner Mayberry (Doug) and their daughter, Charity, one son, JohnTom Cartner and his children; Lauren, Davey Alex, Jayden and Aliza Cartner. She is also survived by one sister, two brothers and former husband and friend forever, John Lee Cartner.
She was preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters along with her husband, Ray Ayers on June 24, 2011.
A service to celebrate the life of Penny Cartner will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, December 31, 2012 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Gwaltney and Rev. Curtis White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the church on Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.
