David graduated from Minden High School in Minden, Louisiana, in 1961. David graduated from Louisiana Tech with a bachelor and master's degree. He graduated from Naval Air Officers School and became a helicopter pilot. Louisiana 1st. Lt HML 167 Mag - 16 1 MAW VietNam PH .

Lt. Gloer Killed In Vietnam Action

Lt. David Gloer, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. (Buddy) Gloer, of Minden, was killed in action in Vietnam on July 21. A helicopter pilot, Lt. Gloer's vehicle was shot down by enemy gunners.

Lt. Gloer, originally of Bienville, LA, was a 1961 graduate of Minden High School and of LSU (I thought La. Tech). He graduated from the Naval Air Officers School.

He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Minden.
He is survived by his mother and father, a brother, George of Dubberly, and a sister, Dale (Mrs. Danny) Milam, Minden.

HML-167 Command Chronology, 7Aug68:
21 July 1968 - While flying a VMO-2 aircraft near Hill 65, an HML-167 crew (Pilot, Co-pilot and Gunner) was hit by hostile fire. The aircraft was unable to maintain flight and crashed killing the entire crew (fourth member of the crew [NORSWORTHY] was a member of VMO-2).
