mR. hOLMES came to Illinois AND Within a few years he moved to Denver, Colorado. He married Belle Otto Nixon on May 7, 1888 and to this union six children were born.
The deceased leaves his wife of Gardner, Il, and a sister, Mrs. Ella Pratt of Sommerville, Mass, and four children, Grace Booth of Chicago, John Thomas Holmes, Mildred May Holmes, and William Nixon Holmes of Gardner.
A son, Oliver Nixon at the age of 16 months and a daughter, Heneritta at the age of 25 years, proceeded their father in death.
Mr and Mrs Holmes came to Illinois in 1894 and lived in Emmington there for a short time before moving to Gardner in 1898. During the past 30 years Mr. Holmes has been engaged in the lumber and coal business in Gardner.
The deceased was a member of Gardner Lodge A.F.& A.M. and the Consistory of Bloomington, Ill.
A great company was present at the funeral which was held from the home on Sunday afternoon May 6, 1928 in charge of the Gardner Lodge A.F.& A.M. Rev. G. M. Boswell delivered the address and Mr and Mrs. George Barton and John Mainwaring sang 'Beautiful Home" and "No Night There". The floral offerings were many and beautiful.
